My second project after moving in to our new house was to build a bed for Liam. Until then he had been sleeping in his baby bed, but it was time for a big bed. We decided on a full-size bed and needed a simple frame. We wanted something close to the ground so he wouldn't get hurt if he fell out of bed while asleep. This is what I came up with.

The headboard is made entirely with 2x4's and is held together with pocket screws. The footboard, as you can see, is also made of 2x4's.

The slats under the matress are made from 1x4's.

And here is the finished project. It took about 2 hours to build.
