My daughter said she needed a bed for my grandson, Ollie, so I said I would build one for him. She wanted something with drawers underneath, but with the price of wood these days, it was not cost effective. So here's what I came up with. It's based on some plans I wound online, but a but more sturdy. The beadboard and footboard are built from 4x4's, 1x6's and 1x4's with some glue and brad nais.

The rest of the frame is built with 2x6's, 2x4' and 1x3 slats. The finished project is simple but sturdy. Hopefully Ollie will get years of use out of it.
